Chapter Four

Mercer turned and grabbed Gio, pulling him out of the way. They fell back, hitting the pavement hard as they barely made it to safety. The car sped away.

"Gio, are you okay?" Mercer lifted to his knees and turned him over.

Gio glanced up at him and grinned. "Hey if you wanted me horizontal, all you had to do was ask."

"We were just almost run over and you're joking." Mercer stared at him.

"It was just someone rushing somewhere and not paying attention."

"Then why didn't they stop?"

"Probably scared." Gio sat up. "We're fine so let's get to skating."

"B--"

"You promised me lobster." Gio rose and held out his hand.

Mercer took it and they went skating to the front then along the sidewalk and in the area around Brewster Street. He couldn't get the car out of his head. He would swear it was deliberate that they had tried to run them over. Also, he'd got a look at the driver and they seemed familiar, but Mercer couldn't recall where he had seen them. As they continued to race down Brewster Street, Mercer mulled over what had happened. Even later when they returned to the gallery to change out of the skates and into shoes to go to dinner, he couldn't shake the feeling he knew the driver of the car.

"Is this good food or what?" Gio made a humming noise.

"Yeah, you were right." Mercer took a huge bite of his lobster. "This is a great restaurant."

"Uh-huh." Gio put his hand over his. "I see you're finally with me."

"Sorry. I was thinking of earlier."

"I know." Gio lifted his fork. "But there is nothing to think about. We came around the corner and a car almost hit us. No premeditation there. Just a careless driver. Thankfully it didn't. So we're all good."

"Okay," Mercer agreed, but he knew it would bug him until he remembered where he had seen the driver. For now, he pushed it away and focused on Gio. "Now I've bought you dinner--lobster at that. What do you plan for the rest of the night?"

"Hey, I thought this was your date?" Gio took another bite of his food.

"It is, but I'm leaving the rest of the night up to you."

"Then movie and necking on the couch." Gio leered. "I want to taste you."

"Anytime." Mercer shifted as his cock hardened.

Gio's chuckle was wicked. They flirted back and forth for the rest of the meal and as they went back to Gio's. They entered the apartment and Gio closed the door behind him. In the semi-dark room, Gio turned Mercer into his arms.

"I had an ulterior motive for being home today. I had planned to cook you a delicious meal then as we ate it I would seduce you." Gio stared into his eyes. "You're not going home tonight."

"Gio--"

Gio kissed him. It was firm, possessive and clearly laid out his intentions to take him to bed. Mercer locked his knees as he realised all their previous encounters hadn't prepared him for Gio fully unleashed. Gio moved him and Mercer went where he led.
